On September 5th at 6:00 P.M. the Solomon Middle School football team played their first game against Wakefield. They won the game with a score of 56-8. The coach said “He’s glad that they got their first game jitters out of the way and he saw things that they can work on but overall glad how everyone played.” Their next game is September 12th at 6:00 P.M. at home against Bennington.
On September 5th at 4:30 P.M. the Solomon Middle School volleyball team played Wakefield. The A team was able to win in three sets. The B team played two sets and were able to win the second set. We talked to Coach Desormiers and she said “they played very well, exceeded my expectations, and had a lot of comebacks.” Their next match will be September 12th vs. Bennington.
The middle school and high school had their first cross country meet at Tescott on September 5th. Solomon competed against the following schools: Inman, Osborne, Tescott, Ell-Saline, Sylvan-Lucas, Saint Xavier, Bennington, Wilson, Lakeside, Pike Valley, and Linn. The high school division competed in a 5k race and the middle school division competed in a 1-mile race. The boys placed 7th as a team overall. Zach Hare had a time of 16:15.4 that placed him 17th. Alex Baize had a time of 20:36.2 that placed him 37th. Tyler McLaughlin had a time of 25:35.7 that placed him 41st. Matthew Ford had a time of 25:50.5 that placed him 42nd. Aaliyah Smith had a time of 23:12.8 that placed her 29th. In the middle school division, Logan Hammersmith had a time of 7:12.1 that placed him 19th. Cooper Carver had a time of 7:51.6 that placed him 23rd. Kiera Smith had a time of 6:35.8 that placed her 1st. Payton Ballou had a time of 9:18.7 that placed her 9th. The next meet high school meet will be on September 12 at Washington County. The middle school will compete on September 24 at Southeast of Saline.
