The Wheat State League Art competition was held in Solomon this year on Wednesday, April 3rd. Solomon students displayed their creativity against their league competition for a judge from Bethany College. Lilli Selbach placed second in Black and White Drawing and first in both Graphic Design categories. She also earned an additional merit in Graphic Design: Computer Illustration. Faith Janhke picked up a first place ribbon for her Functional Ceramics project, followed by Jobe Fowles in second. Cobey Fiske and Libby Ledet earned merits in the category. Fowles also placed second in Manipulated Photo and earned a merit in Graphic Design: Advertisements and Logos. Shane Garman won first in Oil Painting/Oil Pastel and a merit in 3D Art Sculpture. Ashley LePage picked up second in Graphic Design: Computer Illustration and third in Graphic Design: Advertisement and Logos. Hope Garza won the Fibers category. Kaylee Thacker got third place in Black and White Photography to go with a merit in Color Photography. Also earning merits were Emily Thompson in Watercolor Painting, Olivia Holt in Mixed Media, Dani Hagen in Black and White Drawing and Mixed Media, and Bobby Robinson in Non-Functional Ceramics and Fibers.
