Student Council kicked off the annual Operation Gorilla Family food drive by visiting with Elementary Classrooms today. Boxes to collect canned food will be located in each classroom. The classroom with the most cans will earn a hot chocolate and a movie party. The goal is to have enough cans to "can struct" a new "office space" for Mrs. Fouard. Students can begin bringing cans anytime, and the competition will run until December 9th. Watch Facebook for fun daily challenges. Food donations will fill holiday baskets for local families and senior citizens in need. Items needed include canned vegetables, hamburger helper, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, soup, canned fruit, rice , and pantry items like flour and sugar. SMS and SHS will join the elementary tomorrow and have set a goal to collect 500 food items. The food drive is sponsored by the SHS Student Council, Gorilla honor society, and the SMS Student leaders. Don't forget you can also adopt a local family from our "angel tree" at DS&O offices. If you would like to get involved by donating canned food or a monetary donation, please contact the school and ask how you can help!
